Event Planning

Bare Your Soles: the Next Step will begin at precisely 11:00 am on Saturday, April 12th, 2008. Please arrive at 10:45; you can park in the metered parking lot off of Welch for free and follow the signs to lead you to the beginning of the march. We will be meeting on the grass outside of the UNT campus Auditorium across from Hickory Street, near Fry. The march will be a barefoot march, so please wear a pair of shoes to donate.

The march will begin at Fry Street and end at the courthouse on the square. Following the march, we will provide food and entertainment until 3:00 pm. Along with musicians and speakers, non-profit organizations from around the city of Denton will be represented, available to provide information regarding volunteerism for anyone that might be interested.

In April of 2007, Seeds of Change put on an event entitled Bare Your Soles for the Homeless. The event was a barefoot march that took place throughout the city of Denton in an effort to raise awareness of homelessness and poverty that was taking place within the city of Denton. This year, Bare Your Soles is taking the Next Step, and is going beyond raising awareness in an effort to unite the community of Denton through fellowship and love. Our goal is to bring together people from all demographics and economic classes, and in turn aid the community in better understanding that we are all equal.

Bare Your Soles: the Next Step will be taking place on April 12th, 2008 from 11 AM until 3 PM. The march will begin at precisely 11 AM at Fry street, and will end at the courthouse lawn. At the end of the march, we will provide food and entertainment from local vendors and artists. In addition, there will be a few guest speakers who will address the issues of homelessness and our need for unity. We invite you to join us on Saturday, April 12th, in our efforts to love our neighbors and to abolish inequality!!!

Our mission is to bring about awareness of the homelessness and poverty taking place in the city of Denton, while also uniting the community. We strive to unite all economic classes in an effort to abolish inequality and ultimately promote fellowship and love.

In order to make Bare Your Soles a success, we are in need of several volunteers!! Listed below is a general list of volunteers that will be needed to help the event run smoothly. If you are able to serve in any way and would like more information, please contact us at feedthehungrydenton@gmail.com. Thanks!

• Food Team: will need several people to pick up food prior to the event. Will also need volunteers to distribute the food and clean up afterwards.
• Set up and Operations: we are in need of 3 people who know how to run technical equiptment (ie: sound board, PA system, etc).
• Sweepers : we are need of 6 people who are interested in volunteering to sweet the route of the march beforehand.
• Sign Painting Team: This team will be in charge of collecting painting supplies, as well making sure all of the signs get painted.
• Shoe Pick-up and Delivery: We will need a couple of volunteers willing to carry the shoes from Fry street to the courthouse lawn once the march takes place. (preferably someone with a truck).
• Photographers
• Parking team: will direct people where to park prior to the march.
