Our main goal is to assist the homeless in getting employment. We strive to do this by helping them locate jobs, preparing them for interviews, and helping them acquire the skills they need for employment. The main medium through which we get the word out about what we do and also where we perform most of our service is at the thursday dinner and weekend lunches.
Our primary goal this semester is to get the G.E.D. classes and skill work shops going. In order to do this we're going to need to find:
We are also hoping to network with a clothes closet in Denton to meet the needs of the needy and homeless. The clothes closet ministry will serve to provide seasonal clothing and work related clothing for the needy and homeless.
While pursuing these goals we will continue to provide assistance in writing resumes and helping the homeless apply for jobs and helping them to find work.
Interview homeless about their skills Take our written notes and type them out into a nice formatted resume. Make copies of the resume Deliver the resume to the interviewee
Volunteer your time to go pick up and/or deliver a job application
There will be teaching opportunities in the form of workshops that the teacher will organize and plan. We are currently looking for ways to network for teaching areas, computer labs, and software. If you have an idea for a job skill you would like to teach we are open to helping accomodate you. Some ideas for job training workshops are below.
